Mardi Gras Day Parade and Party in Ocean Springs

Mieow, efurryone!! Welcome to the celebrations!!!

Being a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Socks has learned all the local Mardi Gras hangouts. So he suggests we head to the Day Parade in Ocean Springs to get things rolling, we have to keep our eyes peeled in case we spot someone we know in the parade. Socks assures us that however we choose to dress will be fine. Apparently during Mardi Gras anything and everything goes. Which means you can dress up or not. So, either grab a mask or fun hat.....

Or for all you cats, dogs, rabbits and other furries that prefer coming all natural, relax, come join us and have FUN! or as they say down here.........

Asta drove Frankie, Chubbs, Fluffy, and Pepsi to the parade in style. Fluffy you better hold on.

Before the parade Asta and Gussie stopped at local bakery for some Bay Nyets and coffee. Asta's sissie Fewgie and her bwuffow Jake were already there. They wewee all covewed in powdewed sugaw but who cawes, that is half the fun of eating Bay Nyets.

One of the nice things about the Ocean Springs parade is all the cafes and bars that line the route. You can stop in for a snack or drink without missing any of the action.

Fwankie Fuwtew discovewed a hooge stash of Mawdi Gwas stuff at his house. He sent out a pee mail to all the woofies and they all got together............................

and arranged a surprise for Socks and MoMo

Socks suggested we purchase one of these cars for our adventures but these silly men didn't want to sell one.

Socks' Daddy (Bo Alawine) is in the parade. He is running for Jackson County Supervisor.

Hmmm, this clown looks strangely familiar, check out the psychedelic shoes.

These guys look like they know how to have fun.

We wonders if they knows Gras means FAT!

Throw us something Mister!!!!!!!

This Turtle is representing Gulf Island National Seashore in the parade.

Fenris meet some new friends at the parade. This is Memphis the Great Dane.

If we get thirsty we can pop into Leo's for a drink, they have a live band playing so we can hang out and relax for awhile after the parade.

Lucy really got into the Mardi Gras spirit.

These guys certainly sound familiar, if only we could place the accent.

Keep a sharp look out now, the most interesting floats are coming up and you never know who you might seeing hanging off a balcony around here.

Of course the highlight of the parade is discovering who this year's Royalty is .........................

Mardi Gras Queen 2011 is Gracie!!!!!!!!!

Here is the royal float, featuring our beloved Gracie and furriends....We are all honored to be in her court.

See if you can identify the furries, they include all the furries from Jan's Funny Farm, Socks's family, Momo, Asta, Karl, Ruis, Gracie, Penelope and Brian

After the floats have gone by everyone started mingling and talking and dancing in the streets. Us cats and dogs couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the giant block party.

Puddles really got into the street dancing. She was asking complete strangers to dance with her. The amazing thing is the humans didn't even blink an eye at a dancing dog. We guesses anything really does go at Mardi Gras.

Watching and being in the parade sure works up an appetite. A friend who lives close to the parade route lent Socks his house so Socks and MoMo could arrange a picnic in the back yard. Look, beads all over the trees!!! Asta and her doggie furriends have put up these before they went to the parade....

Socks had this special Mardi Gras cake made at a local bakery. Be sure to get a slice there is plenty for all.

Asta and Momo have set up this special cake stand for those who are partial to cakes and special breads. Can you see the extra special one with Gracie's name on it?

There are plenty of food and yummy treats. Dig in we can always have more delivered if we manage to eat all this lot.

We have a wide selection of drinks for you to choose from and a keepsake goblet to enjoy the beverage of your choice in.

Take a catnip pillow as you leave to remember today.
